Rest in Peace... Keith Emerson

Image
Since December, my music heroes have been passing on at an alarming rate. The keyboard section of the Great Gig in the Sky now has a master amongst its ranks, as Keith Emerson has passed away at the age of 71. During my career as an entertainment news journalist I've had the honor of hanging out with and interviewing musicians across all genres of the music spectrum. One of the most memorable of these was when I got to spend the better part of an hour with Keith back in 2000, at a Moog keyboard convention.

Wintergatan "Marble Machine" is Quite Literally the Greatest Thing Ever

Image
Waking up to a viral video is just something we do in the second decade of the 21st century. So when something as magical as the Wintergatan Marble Machine catches your eye, and even more so your ears, one should hit pause on their day and spend four and a half minutes amazed while wrapped in musical bliss. The Marble Machine was built and composed by Martin Molin and is the beautiful offspring of a union of vibraphone, bass guitar, percussion instruments and Rube Goldberg machine; albeit one with a very useful and artistic purpose. I would give you more details about what you are seeing and hearing, but as of this writing, the Wintergatan website is down, likely from a heavy, inbound web traffic Hug-of-Death.
