The @LinerNotes Blog Turns Two and You Get Two Presents!

My my, how time flies. atlinernotes.com turns two today, and thanks to all of you who have taken the time to stop by and check out it out, this blog has seen it's biggest year ever! To celebrate, I've got links to two free downloads you will want to check out.

There are two big pieces of news to share since October 24th last rolled around. In just the last few weeks, one particular article here has surged in popularity, resulting in it becoming the new #1 most-read entry here. My review of Daft Punk's Tron Legacy soundtrack was surpassed by an Under the Covers entry on Ryan Adams and his acoustic version of Iron Maiden's "Wasted Years". This is one of those amazing recordings one wishes would be released officially because it is really that good. Also joining the Top 3 posts is my review of Hugh Laurie when he brought his jazz combo to the El Rey Theater recently.

The second piece of news I actually already shared when it happened, but it's worth repeating that thanks to all of you, we saw over one year of month-to-month growth, with more and more people checking out the music discussed here. For that, I humbly say thank you so very much.

Keeping with the theme of two, there are a couple more things to mention. First is there is now a Contact Form you can use to get in touch with me. As demonstrated during Album August, I firmly believe in what I write here being a two-way dialogue. If you run across an unknown or under-heard group or performer you want me to check out, you can do so either through the contact page or of course via Twitter.

And lastly, I have a couple of presents for you to celebrate! Well, I don't personally have them, but the artists were kind enough to make them available for download for free, so you have no reason not to check them out. First is the soundtrack to the game Apple Jack 2 by This Eden and Josh Woodward. Before you read further, forget everything you think you know about video game music.

This set was featured during my Album August live tweet review sessions and was a pleasant surprise to hear. The album features ten pretty pieces of acoustic guitar and ukulele themed instrumentals that are all at once lovely, easy on the ear and full of a vibrant energy. Major props to This Eden's Sam Darley for reminding us that you can download the Apple Jack 2 soundtrack for free, right here!

The second free download was posted recently by legendary Italian producer and performer Giorgio Moroder. The track is a remaster of the promo-only, 13+ minute version of "Chase" which Giorgio and Harold Faltermeyer created for the film Midnight Express. If you love electronic music, especially the warmth of analog synths, you absolutely must download this, courtesy of Giorgio himself. (Download link is below the Soundcloud player bar.)

Again, thank you to each and every one of you who have visited atlinernotes.com! Rock on!!
