Song Review - "Tonight (DnD)" by Cossbysweater
Two and-a-half minutes and a sweetly adorable melody is all it takes to capture the zeitgeist of a fandom. If you've ever rolled a natural 20, you will instantly relate to the story behind the lyrics of "Tonight" by Cossbysweater.
Dungeons & Dragons hasn't had too many songs dedicated to it, at least not ones as heartfelt as "Tonight". Hit play, close your eyes, and try not to recall those many nights where you escaped into a world of fantasy, polyhedral dice and slaying monsters, all in your mind.
Cossbysweater (aka Allie Goertz) includes a "humor" tag on her Bandcamp page for "Tonight". I must respectfully disagree. This is far from humor. This short, sweetly sung story set to a gentle folk guitar refrain speaks in a very real way to all of us who've played Dungeons & Dragons. (Rolls d20 saving throw against not offending the artist... just in case.)
