Found on YouTube - Guitar and Vocal Cover of Skyrim's "The Dragonborn Comes"

If you are among the millions who are adventuring through the world of Skyrim (myself included) then you already have an intimate knowledge of the music crafted by Jeremy Soule for the game. If you aren't playing it, stick with me here, because great music, no matter the source, transcends barriers, whether they be language or non-knowledge of a video game. The lady pictured above goes by the name Malukah, and she has posted an utterly haunting guitar-and-vocal cover of a key in-game bard song from Skyrim.

Even if you have logged exactly zero hours holding a video game controller, hit play below and take in the angelic vocals of Malukah.

Now, if you are among the countless people playing Skyrim, you very likely have shivers going up and down your spine right now like I did the first time I heard this cover. Especially at the 1:32 mark where she flawlessly shifts into singing in dovahkiin for a brief portion of the "Sons of Skyrim" theme. And yes, it is very clear that Malukah graduated from Bard's College, with honors! (I attended Bard's College for a while, then I took an arrow in the knee).

With the limitless number of hours of DIY musician performances of often questionable nature posted to YouTube, it is wonderful to find a true diamond in the rough such as this. Skyrim fans can only hope she chooses to record and post more covers to her YouTube channel.

As of the time of this writing, Malukah has posted a downloadable MP3 of the performance. As this is a copyrighted work of Bethesda Softworks, it may or may not be around for very long. Here is hoping it is embraced in the spirit of which it was obviously intended.

For another fun take on the music of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, check out this heavy metal cover of the theme song.

  1. I was aware of Skyrim, but have not played it or any other of the Elder Scrolls games. I happened across Malukah's video by chance while doing some late night browsing.

I was captivated and like so many others, hit the replay button again and again. I truly hope Bethesda will embrace her.

Before, I had no intent on playing Skyrim, but since hearing her sing that song, I will absolutely purchase that game and try it out. 10/10 - Lux

  2. Learn Guitar tab. A guitar tab is a method of the music scale electric guitar specifically designed for guitarists. It has six horizontal lines that represent the strings of a typical guitar.
