Viral Song Alert: "The Fox" by Ylvis is The New "Gangnam Style"

If you will recall it was just about one year ago that "Gangnam Style" went viral and entered the public consciousness with its earworm melody and "can't take your eyes off it" music video. Remember how much fun we had? Trying to imitate PSY's dance, hearing it played literally everywhere from sporting events to talk shows to countless remix videos? Well my friends, this year's answer to "Gangnam Style" has arrived. The good news is, you don't need a translator to understand the lyrics. The bad news: once you hear "The Fox" by Norwegian duo Ylvis, it will never, ever leave your head. What does the fox say?
I shall preface this video by dipping into the popular lexicon of meme-speak and simply say: WAT?
"Dog goes woof
Cat goes meow
Bird goes tweet
and mouse goes squeak..."
Yes, really. Those are the opening lyrics of this "sang for øyeblikket" (that's Norwegian for song of the moment). Laugh if you must, but this song is
Are you ready for the inevitable remixes, and fan videos and dare I say, a video of Leicester City F.C. mascot Filbert Fox dancing his own rendition of it? I'm calling it right now: This is the new "Gangnam Style". This is the song the world deserves. Yes, it is ridiculous, but at the same time it is brilliant in its ridiculousness. You watched. You will likely watch it again. And hear it again. And again. Just remember, the chorus goes: "Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!"
