"This is July 13th, 2011."
Now here's a bit of fun...
Back in 1986, a band called Sigue Sigue Sputnik appeared out of nowhere. Actually, they appeared like they had just escaped from the set of a Mad Max film or from the pages of a William Gibson novel. Their sound was unique: a blend of electronic new wave and guitars, mashed up with sound bites from movies. They billed themselves as "the fifth generation of rock 'n' roll" and their look was, to put it bluntly, outrageous. But what does this have to do with the date of July 13th, 2011?
Their debut album was notorious at the time for its themes, lascivious language and for featuring advertisements between the songs for real products (i-D Magazine and Studio Line from L'Oréal for example) which the band pocketed the money for. It is still to this day a guilty-pleasure listen for me.
Whilst playing with Spotify today (thank you Trent Reznor!), I was looking for obscure artists the music service had and I ran across this mix of Sigue Sigue Sputnik's "21st Century Boy". Hit play to hear an audio anachronism originating from 1986.
Just like when Skynet became self-aware on August 29th, 1997, isn't it?

That is pretty amazing. The sound is pretty cool too. Very in line with my eclectic music tastes. I bow to your musical mastery.
