Under the Covers with James Bond - "You Know My Name"
Casino Royale was a reboot not only for the James Bond character and film series, but for Bond theme songs as well. Grittier and edgier are buzzwords which not only describe Daniel Craig's take on the character, but Chris Cornell's theme song as well. Imagine what happens then if you take the electric bite out of the song.
Even though it is still very recent, let's spin "You Know My Name," which is arguably the heaviest of all the James Bond title songs.
Now, take away all the bombast, electric guitars Cornell's signature voice and you will find the song still works incredibly well with just a singer and acoustic guitar.
UK indie singer/songwriter Gareth Rhodes recorded this very solid rendition, stripping the song down to it's most basic elements.
For another electrified approach, we return once again to Finland, for a cover from Poets of the Fall.
It is a decent cover, though it lacks much of the bite of the original, but it is included here as Finnish groups seem to have a particular penchant for covering the music of James Bond.
The music of James Bond will return in Quantum of Solace.
