Boosting the Signal: Why You Should Consider Supporting the Kickstarter Project for Amy Kucharik & Friends (With Benefits)
Welcome to a fresh installment of Boosting the Signal, where we talk about independent musicians and their crowd funding efforts to record their music for the world to hear. Let's talk ukulele, shall we?
If memory serves correctly, Amy Kucharik, she with the four-string above, came to my attention a couple of years ago, following a Twitter conversation regarding her instrument of choice and the music to be made with it. It was one of those unique connections with an artist that couldn't have happened in the pre-Twitter era.
We would have a few brief Twitter exchanges over the years, including her and a duet partner asking my opinion on a new song they recorded. As I always fancied being a music producer in my younger days, being asked for feedback by musicians is a welcome thing. But that was yesterday, (according to Foreigner anyway) what is more important is today, or rather the next several days.
Amy Kucharik recently launched a Kickstarter to raise funds for her debut album. More accurately, it is the debut album from Amy Kucharik & Friends (With Benefits). If you aren't enticed to support them based solely on the cleverness of their nom de entendre, please take a few minutes and let Amy and the band convince you.
Amy Kucharik has a handful of songs available via her bandcamp page. It is these, her fun personality, the unique spirit I believe she will bring to the recordings and that certain je ne sais quoi that earned my double-digit support for their album. Trust me, if it were within my power, I would kick in at the top tier and put them over their goal right now. That collective power actually lies with you, dear crowd, and is where you come in.
As of press time, Amy Kucharik & Friends (With Benefits) have raised just over half of their $8000 goal, with 12 days to go. If after seeing their video you feel so inclined, please kick in what you can, whether it's a single dollar or a higher amount. At the minimum, each person reading this should either hit the Tweet Button below, or the same one on Amy's Kickstarter page, or the Like button next to it. Remember: You sharing this project and boosting the signal about it is a very powerful gesture.

Hi There! I just saw this review of Amy K's Kickstarter and I was wondering if reviewing incredible swing albums was something you're in the habit of doing? If so, I would love for you to tear apart mine: https://ojanmarie.bandcamp.com/album/released
ReplyDeleteI run a jazz/swing/blues band, Jan Marie & The Mean Reds, based out of Boston, and that album is our soul and gospel-inspired swing album, and our first release. Let me know if you might be interested!
Thanks,
Jan Marie
