The Best Music-Themed Cosplayer at Comic-Con: DeadpoolMau5

Comic-Con 2012 is in the history books. The cosplayers were out in force again this year, but there was one who stole the show, with a mashup of comic book and music nerdery.
The person beneath the mau5head of "DeadpoolMau5" has taken the art of cosplaying as EDM's be-masked darling to an entirely new level. By combining the iconic head of deadmau5 with the outfit and color scheme of Deadpool, Marvel's Merc with a Mouth, this cosplayer has vaulted to the top of the list of Coolest deadmau5 Cosplays.

A pair of friends of the @LinerNotes blog graciously allowed their encounters with DeadpoolMau5 to be featured here. Up top, @JasperGonzales with the Mau5 with a Mouth and below, @Debblues doubles up the thumbs down with this clever cosplayer.

It is not surprising that the iconic, rodental alter-ego of Joel Thomas Zimmerman engenders such creativity among his fans. The mau5head design lends itself particularly well as a template for fan-created tributes to the original. My first encounter with a deadmau5 cosplayer was at Comic-Con last year, by a fan sporting a relatively simple recreation of the mau5head.

More recently, I met a cosplayer at the AM2 convention, who was rocking the cheesehead mau5head variant.

But it will be difficult for anyone to match the geektastic levels of awesome achieved by DeadpoolMau5. That said, I hereby issue a cosplay challenge! There needs to be a cosplay duo of a deadmau5 and a Professor Meowingtons, pHd! Someone make this happen!
