Rockin' Wear - Music Shirts from We Love Fine

If there is one thing that goes hand in hand with being a music fan its t-shirts which reflect your particular taste or fandom. Moreover, wearing merch of your favorite artist is de rigueur for attending rock concerts. But what if you want to dare to be different? To blend your love of music and geekdom into a single, epic shirt that will not only make you look awesome but turn heads in your general direction while wearing them? That's where the music-themed shirts from We Love Fine come in.
The group of evil genius artists at We Love Fine have done incredibly well with their mash-up's of different areas of pop culture with album covers or other music iconography to create a line of shirts which can easily fill your closet. This is professional grade remix culture at its finest. Above is a clever take on Kraftwerk's Man Machine album, featuring the X-Men. This one is very subtle, as not nearly enough people appreciate the music or know the artwork of the pioneers of krautrock. But what if you want to be a little bolder? You can always rage against the machine, especially if your allegiance lies with COBRA.

The artists behind these shirts are very obviously metal fans, because of the large number of heavy metal album art-inspired shirts in We Love Fine's catalog. Iron Maiden's legendary The Number of The Beast cover gets the Dungeons & Dragons treatment, with mascot Eddie being substituted for the demilich, Acererak.

Thrash metal masters Slayer also get D&Dified through a parody of their logo above the visage of an illithid, also known as a Mind Flayer. (It is at this point I am rolling a d20 saving throw against admitting I am a full on nerd. (rolls a 1) Yep.)

But arguably the most popular heavy metal themed shirts at We Love Fine have to be the ones which mash up the worlds of denim and leather with My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. Even the most hell bent for leather Judas Priest fan could get away with rocking this riff on the Screaming for Vengeance cover.

The hits keep coming though. Because even if you don't consider yourself a "Brony" (an adult fan of MLP:FiM), you have to agree this tee combining the cartoon's villain, Discord with the Danzig/Samhain skull logo has a subtle brilliance to it.

"And if you wanna find chaos with me..."
For further geekery, amaze your friends at parties by dropping the knowledge on them that the original skull logo came from the cover of issue #8 of The Saga of Crystar, Crystal Warrior.
But I digress, because props, thrown horns and umlauts of praise must be given to the artist who devised this next shirt. Because not only did they combine the characters of a cartoon originally envisaged for four- to six-year old girls with the cover art from a single (not even an album cover mind you, but a single!) by the loudest band in the world, Manowar.

Blow Your Speakers
Below is the original 1987 single cover art on which it is based. Please note the attention to detail, from the spiked leather arm bands to the poses of the characters mimicking the band and the Spın̈al Tap-ian thralls at their feet.

"What's wrong with being sexy?" - Nigel Tufnel
Another jem of a cartoon also gets the We Love Fine touch, as the not-very-nice girls of The Misfits get a double dose of 80's retroism, casting their members Duran Duran/Patrick Nagel-style onto a parody of the cover of Mötley Crüe's Shout at the Devil.

But perhaps the classiest shirts offered by We Love Fine are these three. The first answers the question of what would happen if Sesame Street was brought to you today by the letters Run-D.M.C.

Hey Ernie, you talk to much
Parodying The Beatles is a guaranteed way to add a touch of class to a design, which is exactly what is achieved when Revolver becomes Rebellion.

But for me, one of the most amazing designs available from We Love Fine combines the climactic scene from Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope with the self-titled debut from Blue Öyster Cult. First, the original art, from the 1972 album which barely cracked the Billboard Top 200...
And now the shirt design, which if I ever see someone wearing one, I will say "May the Force be with you" AND "Blue Öyster Cult rules, man!" just to see what reaction I get.

Again, major kudos to the artist for their knowledge of lesser known album art to use in this creation. These 11 shirts are only the tip of the guitar pick in terms of clever music-themed shirts available from We Love Fine. Check out their Rock Cover section to see how you can build a truly rocking wardrobe.
We Love Fine goes to great lengths to continually update their catalog, so if these shirts appeal to your sense of fashion, definitely keep checking back to see when new releases drop. And if you happen to be at San Diego Comic-Con 2012 this week, be sure to check out We Love Fine's booth @ space #517.
